Selensky „spürt, wie sich die Schlinge um seinen Hals zuzieht“ und versucht, einen direkten NATO-Krieg anzuzetteln

Der sogenannte „Siegesplan“ von Volodymyr Zelensky, der kürzlich der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt wurde und bei den NATO-Ländern auf eher zurückhaltende Reaktionen stieß, könnte darauf hindeuten, dass der ukrainische Ex-Komiker sich eine Scheibe vom israelischen Premierminister Benjamin Netanjahu abschneidet, vermutet der Analyst für internationale Beziehungen Gilbert Doctorow.

Genau wie Netanjahu, der erkannte, dass Israel sich mit seinem „Krieg an drei Fronten“ übernommen hatte und die einzige Chance auf einen Sieg darin sah, die USA „in den Kampf auf seiner Seite zu ziehen“, scheint auch Selensky zu versuchen, dasselbe zu tun, erklärt Doctorow gegenüber Sputnik.

„Er weiß, dass seine Armeen eine verheerende Niederlage erleiden und dass in wenigen Monaten die gesamte Ukraine östlich des Dnepr in russischer Hand sein wird“, führt er aus. „Seine einzige Möglichkeit, an der Macht zu bleiben und etwas von der Ukraine zu retten, besteht darin, die NATO jetzt an seiner Seite in die Schlacht zu ziehen. Die sofortige Aufnahme der Ukraine in die NATO, sein erster Punkt seines 5-Punkte-Plans, würde die NATO sofort zu einem Kriegsbündnis machen und den Krieg zu einem NATO-Russland-Krieg ausweiten.“

Ein weiterer Punkt in Zelenskys Plan sind Angriffe mit westlichen Waffen tief in russisches Gebiet hinein. Sollte dieser Plan umgesetzt werden, würde dies „die NATO sofort zum Kriegsbündnis machen und einen NATO-Russland-Krieg auslösen, was die NATO und insbesondere die USA absolut ablehnen“, so der Analyst.

„Zelensky spürt, wie sich die Schlinge um seinen Hals zuzieht, und tut alles Erdenkliche, um einen NATO-Krieg zu schüren und hofft, sein Leben, wenn nicht sogar seine politische Macht, zu retten“, schließt Doctorow.

Gilbert Doctorow's latest book, "War Diaries. The Russia-Ukraine War, 2022-2023" is a unique contribution to literature on the war thanks to the author's reports on the Russian home front written during his periodic visits to St Petersburg at a time when Russia no longer issued visas and nearly all Western journalists had left the country. Doctorow's two-volume "Memoirs of a Russianist" published in 2020 also constitutes a category of its own, consisting largely of diary entries rather than reminiscences written decades later.. Gilbert Doctorow is a professional Russia watcher and actor in Russian affairs going back to 1965. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College (1967), a past Fulbright scholar, and holder of a Ph.D. with honors in history from Columbia University (1975). After completing his studies, Mr. Doctorow pursued a business career focused on the USSR and Eastern Europe. For twenty-five years he worked for US and European multinationals in marketing and general management with regional responsibility. From 1998-2002, Doctorow served as the Chairman of the Russian Booker Literary Prize in Moscow. During the 2010-2011 academic year, he was a Visiting scholar of the Harriman Institute, Columbia University. Mr. Doctorow is a long-time resident of Brussels.

  1. In your excellent commentary, it may be indicated at this point to include the prospect of a Trump Presidency. I recommend your watching the first few minutes of Harris’s interview with Fox. It was devastating. She had no response. And it was painfully clear. In addition, polls are trending steadily and ineluctably against her.

    The key question given this assumption is implicitly posed in the Sputnik piece. Will Donald Trump permit and encourage Netanyahu to bomb nuclear sites in Iran as he said he would in the past. And will that be a civilization terminating event?

I strongly suspect that it’s not so much that Zelensky and Netanyahoo are at the point of dragging the US into wider conflict, rather that they work hand in glove with neocons, who themselves are doubtless linked to powerful transnational power networks, precisely in order to foster a world war. Z is relatively small fry with little agency, a jumped up comedian whereas Bibi is a highly accomplished national leader with far more agency but both essentially are working with those neocon factions to foster war. I think it a mistake to accord them overmuch agency in your analysis.

    This relates to the tail-dog argument you manfully waded into recently. I think what is lacking on both sides is just a little more nuance. Entities like Ukraine, Russia, the US, Israel etc. are complex, internally conflicted and multi-layered wherein often the left hand is not aware of what the right hand is doing. In some respects, Israel is in control of the US and in other respects it’s the other way around but in all cases without identifying the specific individuals or networks involved, just referring to the alpha concept involved – like US, Israel, Russia – etc overlooks the level of detail and nuance needed to truly make sense of the whole thing.

    That said, much of such matters is by nature and design hidden. Which is why I think calling our current system a ‘cryptocracy’ may be on the money. On some levels, for example, the US is arrayed as a leader of the Western Axis against the emerging Rest of the World ‘multipolar’ or BRICS+ axis; yet on other levels they are all marching towards the 2030 agenda which will result in new financial and political realities wherein they are all more or less in lockstep. Note the vagueness of the term ‘they’. I am no guilty of that for which I have (respectfully) upbraided you!
