Joe Biden – one foot in the grave and he wants to take the rest of us with him

This evening’s edition of ‘News of the Week’ on Russian state television carried the ‘breaking news’ that President Biden has just given permission to Ukraine to use American ATACMS medium range ground launched missiles to attack deep within the Russian Federation. The same news also appears on the latest online edition of The New York Times, and so we may assume that the report is correct.

Host Dmitry Kiselyov did not go beyond the bare statement of fact. Surely the Kremlin will require a bit of time to react, but react it will.

The fate of the world does not hang on my every word and so I do not have to be so circumspect.

Regrettably, we are witnessing a replay of what occurred the first time Donald Trump was elected, back in November 2016. The reaction of the Obama administration was to use the couple of months before handover of power to sabotage the most salient aspect of his intended foreign policy initiative, to normalize relations with Russia. I say ‘salient’ not because it was Trump’s first priority but because in Hillary Clinton’s vicious campaign to portray Trump as a Russian asset all that we heard for months was Russia, Russia, Russia. In any case, it was during the transition period that the United States illegally seized Russian consular properties with the intention to create a scandal that would poison relations with Moscow.

That dirty trick was child’s play compared to what Biden & Company are intent on doing now.

Just over two months ago, this very question of allowing Kiev to fire missiles using US technology on strikes deep inside the Russian Federation had been vetoed by Biden when it was proposed to him by visiting UK Prime Minister Starmer. That refusal followed by a day a direct threat from Vladimir Putin that the use by Kiev of medium range missiles supplied by nuclear powers in the West for such attacks on Russia would make the providers of those missiles co-belligerents. We said then that the Pentagon had prevailed upon the President to take the threat seriously and to decline to give his permission to the British, so that Starmer went home empty-handed.

What has happened to change the thinking in the Oval Office? There can be no doubt that Donald Trump’s victory on 5 November and the clear indications that he will cut American aid to Ukraine and push for a negotiated settlement of the war on terms acceptable to Moscow has enraged the Neocons who hold the Collective Biden in their thrall. The flip-flop on use of such missiles is a testament to the utter irresponsibility of this administration. It calls for an urgent move in Congress to stop an action that is tantamount to a declaration of war on Russia.

  1. There are reports that both the Pentagon and the State Department have refused to comment on the NYT report — which as usual for that paper is based on anonymous (i.e. left-wing) sources. Is it accurate? Time will tell.

There is a newly-completed US missile installation in Poland which is just screaming to be pre-emptively destroyed. I doubt that “Joe Biden” will be able to fire up the US people with a demand for war if Russia responds to US/Zelensky attacks on Russia. But “Joe Biden” is not known for paying attention to what US citizens want.

    1. The only problem with that is, aided by the news media, Biden will make things appear as if it was a Russian escalation. I still doubt Americans will support U.S troops. The more likely scenario is that Putin will strike Ukraine instead, and wait for the Trump administration.

  2. The NY Times article mentions North Korea 10 times and explicitly states that Biden is using the presence of North Korean troops as his casus belli.

Will Donald “Fight, Fight, Fight” Trump have the courage to instantaneously and vehemently oppose him! I doubt it very much. All hat and no cowboy.

  4. And I will say to those who maintain, probably correctly, that Biden did not steal the election he won, that there can be no doubt that he intends to steal this one.

  5. And I submit that this action on the part of Biden is an existential response. The existence of the United States? Forsooth! Not a chance. No, the existence of the CIA: John Ratcliffe and Tulsi Gabbard. They crossed the line that Trump would never be allowed to cross. This is serious precisely because it is an existential moment. Fear the worst.

  6. I think people are constantly falling into the trap of taking guff coming from D.C at face value.

Do the missiles even exist? How many are there? Would the paltry numbers make the same difference as before(I E none)?

Could be that Washington & Kiev are lying through their teeth. To obfuscate the fact, that the front is crumbling & the Ukrainian grid is on its last legs.

    1. I dare say you are a troll. These missiles can decapitate Russia . We have seen a lot of decapitation recently. In the Middle East. Putin is undoubtedly the target of these missiles, the ultimate target.

Finding a vulnerable crack shot assassin in Pennsylvania was the beginning.

At the risk of being accused of hyperventilation, things could not be worse.

Act now Donald before it is too late.

  7. Some framing should be shunned, e.g., “sex assigned at birth”.
One should simply avoid such language, because it lends legitimacy to underlying untruth.

The same applies to the “approve/restrain UA use of longer range missiles”.
If Ukraine could use such weapons they would have.
But it ain’t Ukraine. It’s NATO operators that maintain and operate, login, insert decryption units, create target sets and packages using NATO ISR assets.
There is no American restraint or permission, it’s direct action.

Same applies to Israel: American AWACS off the coast of Beirut, planes traversing American controlled air space, American tankers, and EW sentries, American manned radar and AD systems … it’s direct action.

All the talk and kabuki theatre about disagreements, prodding, permission, restraint; it’s all fodder for the psycho drama staged by the chattering classes.

  8. I am getting the feeling that playing up the [no evidence] N Korean horde in Kursk, and now use of ATACMs but only in the Kursk area, is cover for the demasqué of NATO personnel now operationally surrounded on Russian territory.
