Last night’s interview on the widely watched interview program ‘Redacted’ provided a fine opportunity to explain why the NATO summit held earlier in the day in The Hague, Netherlands was a piece of political theater stage managed by Donald J. Trump. By forcing the acceptance of the NATO Member States of a new minimum contribution to defense of 5% of GDP, Trump was building an exit ramp for the USA to reduce its contribution while still remaining within NATO as US law requires

Gilbert Doctorow's latest book, "War Diaries. The Russia-Ukraine War, 2022-2023" is a unique contribution to literature on the war thanks to the author's reports on the Russian home front written during his periodic visits to St Petersburg at a time when Russia no longer issued visas and nearly all Western journalists had left the country. Doctorow's two-volume "Memoirs of a Russianist" published in 2020 also constitutes a category of its own, consisting largely of diary entries rather than reminiscences written decades later.. Volume 2 focuses on the community of 50,000 expatriate managers working and living in Moscow during the 1990s, about which none of his peers has yet to write. Gilbert Doctorow is a professional Russia watcher and actor in Russian affairs going back to 1965. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College (1967), a past Fulbright scholar, and holder of a Ph.D. with honors in history from Columbia University (1975). After completing his studies, Mr. Doctorow pursued a business career focused on the USSR and Eastern Europe. For twenty-five years he worked for US and European multinationals in marketing and general management with regional responsibility. From 1998-2002, Doctorow served as the Chairman of the Russian Booker Literary Prize in Moscow. During the 2010-2011 academic year, he was a Visiting scholar of the Harriman Institute, Columbia University. Mr. Doctorow is a long-time resident of Brussels. View all posts by gilbertdoctorow
Natalie’s question “So does this mean the US is getting a discount?” – the answer screamed in my mind – “NATO is not for the US. NATO is for Europe.”

Western Europe still does not regard Russia as an eternal enemy even now, their lack of defence spending over the last 35 years is testament to this.

in my view, since its beginning, Nato has been the military aggression tool for the British-US colonial empire pretending to protect West European countries from the Eurasian hordes, the yellow peril the then Führer of the inglorious one thousand year Reich was fond of screaming about..this openly super aggressive military alliance is now attempting to rearm to the teeth in order to attack and conquer the Eurasian continent for colonial exploitation, believing today that pumping insane amounts of money into the USGBEU arms industries will bring them close and ready to that task in less than 10 years, alas, even Reuters headline says such a huge financial burden for weapons of destruction the European states can ill afford, and the emperor has no clothes is hugely broke too, for all to see, I may add..political theater indeed, throwing loads of money created out of thin air by the central bankers of capitalist colonial enterprise GBUSEU is going to fix it all for them, well, good luck with your delusions of grandeur then, any which way you choose you loose says my crystal ball…the mad hatters tea parties go on and on kabuki!
