RT International interview: Trump disappoints yet again…
The news coming out of the Geneva talks today between the US delegation headed by Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff and Daniel Driscoll is shocking and upsets my optimistic expectations for peace arrived at on Friday and Saturday following the release of the 28-point Trump plan.
It is inconceivable that Trump can expect to get an approving from Moscow after its having been gutted by the Ukrainians acting in consultation with the European war-mongers. Putin’s wager on reestablishing good relations with the USA and neutralizing the Europeans appears to have been lost. Will he now throw in his and Russia’s lot with the Russian ultranationalists and escalate the destruction of Ukraine? Will he finally decapitate the regime?

I’ve not read specifics re the Geneva meeting changes made to the proposal, and your post doesn’t describe them, but assumes I know already. I apologize for my data gap, but I cannot assess your concluding statements properly. I am guessing it’s about Ukro force size and getting out of Donbas, but what is it that specifically changes your opinion from optimism to the final two interrogatives posed?

So far NO ONE has read the specifics of the changes made to the 28 point plan in Geneva per demands of the Ukrainians. However, Bloomberg reports that the provisions for using the Russian state assets frozen in Euroclear to finances development in Ukraine and in Russia indicates strong influence of the wishes of the EU Commission presented via the Ukrainian delegation and this does not augur well. The EU wants to have control over those assets to be used to continue to finance the war, not for a peace. Moreover, the fact that the Ukrainians are happy with the revisions, as stated by Rubio to the press yesterday makes it poison for the Russians.
