Last night’s nearly half hour broadcast of The Spotlight focused on the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the BRICS member states and of “Friends of BRICS,” including Iran, in Cape Town, South Africa. I was pleased to share the podium with labor union activist, radio producer and political commentator Frank Emspak who is based in Madison, Wisconsin. I comment in passing that if all labor activists in the USA, and not only, were as well informed as Mr. Emspak about the way U.S. domestic politics impact on global politics and vice versa we would be living in a much less dangerous world.
Press TV presenter Bardia Honardar was well prepared with questions probing the significance of BRICS for a shift to multipolarity in the world order, as well as the significance of de-dollarization and the role of BRICS in that ongoing development reshaping world finance. I was especially happy to land the question of what Iran’s prospective membership in BRICS means for Iran, on the one hand, and for BRICS itself, on the other hand.

Die fast halbstündige Sendung von The Spotlight gestern Abend konzentrierte sich auf das Treffen der Außenminister der BRICS-Mitgliedstaaten und der “Freunde der BRICS”, zu denen auch der Iran gehört, in Kapstadt, Südafrika. Ich habe mich gefreut, das Podium mit dem Gewerkschaftsaktivisten, Radioproduzenten und politischen Kommentator Frank Emspak aus Madison, Wisconsin, zu teilen. Wenn alle Gewerkschaftsaktivisten in den USA – und nicht nur dort – so gut wie Herr Emspak über die Auswirkungen der US-Innenpolitik auf die Weltpolitik und umgekehrt informiert wären, würden wir in einer viel weniger gefährlichen Welt leben.
Die Moderatorin von Press TV, Bardia Honardar, war gut vorbereitet und stellte Fragen zur Bedeutung der BRICS für den Übergang zur Multipolarität in der Weltordnung sowie zur Bedeutung der Entdollarisierung und zur Rolle der BRICS in dieser laufenden Entwicklung, die das Weltfinanzsystem umgestaltet. Besonders gefreut habe ich mich über die Frage, was die künftige Mitgliedschaft des Iran in den BRICS einerseits für den Iran und andererseits für die BRICS selbst bedeutet.

Réunion des BRICS au Cap : « Spotlight » sur Press TV (Iran)
Hier soir, l’émission « Spotlight », d’une durée de près d’une demi-heure, s’est concentrée sur la réunion des ministres des affaires étrangères des États membres des BRICS et des “Amis des BRICS”, dont l’Iran, qui s’est tenue au Cap, en Afrique du Sud. J’ai eu le plaisir de partager le podium avec Frank Emspak, militant syndical, producteur de radio et commentateur politique basé à Madison, dans le Wisconsin. Je fais remarquer en passant que si tous les militants syndicaux des États-Unis, et pas seulement eux, étaient aussi bien informés que M. Emspak sur l’impact de la politique intérieure américaine sur la politique mondiale et vice versa, nous vivrions dans un monde beaucoup moins dangereux.
Le présentateur de Press TV, Bardia Honardar, était bien préparé avec des questions portant sur l’importance des BRICS pour le passage à la multipolarité dans l’ordre mondial, ainsi que sur l’importance de la dédollarisation et le rôle des BRICS dans ce développement en cours qui remodèle la finance mondiale. J’ai été particulièrement heureux de répondre à la question de savoir ce que la future adhésion de l’Iran aux BRICS signifie pour l’Iran, d’une part, et pour les BRICS eux-mêmes, d’autre part.
