Raketenangriff auf Polen: wird dies zu einer Anwendung des Artikels 5 führen, wie Präsident Zelensky hofft?

Der gestrige Vorfall eines Raketenangriffs auf der polnischen Seite der Grenze zur Ukraine, bei dem zwei Menschen gestorben sind, ist von den Russen als „Provokation“ angeprangert worden. Die Logik eines solchen Vorfalls wäre, dass Polen und seine NATO-Verbündeten Russland als den Schuldigen und als Verletzer der Integrität des NATO-Territoriums bezeichnen und Russland mit der Anwendung des Artikels 5 des NATO-Vertrags drohen könnten, was so gut wie eine Kriegserklärung wäre. Das war genau das, was wir von Präsident Zelensky in seinen ersten Stellungnahmen zu dem Vorfall gehört haben und er wurde von den kriegslüsternen Schakalen der baltischen Staaten sekundiert.

In Wahrheit scheint bisher die polnische Reaktion zurückhaltend zu sein. Der polnische Präsident Duda hat seine Landsleute aufgerufen, ruhig zu bleiben, solange eine entsprechende Untersuchung im Gang sei. Die polnischen Behörden haben nur mitgeteilt, dass die Bruchstücke der Raketen, die an den betreffenden Stellen gefunden wurden, zeigen, dass sie „aus russischer Produktion“ stammen. Dies sagt in sich noch nicht viel aus, weil beide Seiten des Konflikts Militärgerät nutzen, das in Russland hergestellt wurde. Inzwischen hat Joe Biden in dem weitentfernten Bali auf Journalistenfragen geantwortet, dass die Untersuchung der Flugbahnen der Raketen, die auf landwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen auf der polnischen Seite der Grenze zur Ukraine eingeschlagen sind, es „unwahrscheinlich“ erscheinen lassen, dass sie von Russland aus abgeschossen worden seien. Natürlich haben die Journalisten die zwingenden Rückfragen nicht gestellt: Was sagt uns diese bekannte Flugbahn darüber, von wo diese Raketen denn tatsächlich abgeschossen worden sind? Und wer sie wahrscheinlich abgeschossen hat?

Heute Morgen spekuliert die Financial Times in einem Artikel darüber, dass die Raketen möglicherweise Teil des ukrainischen Luftabwehrsystems waren und abgeschossen wurden, um russische Marschflugkörper auf ihre Energie-Infrastruktur abzufangen, aber „vom Weg abgekommen“ sind. Bei dieser Berichterstattung machen sie sich aber auch nicht die Mühe zu fragen, ob die Fragmente wirklich zeigen, dass es sich um „Luftabwehr“-Projektile handelt oder um Boden-Boden-Raketen, was sich vermutlich anhand der vorhandenen, in den Fotos abgebildeten, großen Fragmente feststellen lassen würde.

All diese Ausflüchte und die Zögerlichkeit auf Seiten der amerikanischen und polnischen Behörden auf den Schuldigen für die Angriffe in Polen zu zeigen, stehen zu dem langjährigen Muster im amerikanischen und westlichen Verhalten im Gegensatz, das wir von den false flag incidents (Zwischenfälle unter falscher Flagge) kennen, die von Washington oder London geleitet wurden. In solchen Fällen, etwa bei dem Abschuss des Fluges MH17 oder bei dem angeblichen Einsatz von Chemiewaffen gegen die eigene Zivilbevölkerung, wurden Russland respektive das Regime von Bashar Assad in Syrien innerhalb von Minuten nach den Vorfällen beschuldigt.

Also frage ich nochmals, was ist gestern in Polen geschehen und wer trägt die Verantwortung? Um eine plausible Antwort zu finden, schlage ich vor, das altbewährte römische Grundprinzip für Ermittlungen anzuwenden und zu fragen cui bono, wessen Interessen dient das, was vorgefallen ist? Das ist ein einfacher, vernünftiger Ansatz, der in unserer gegenwärtigen Zeit des Informationskrieges in Vergessenheit geraten ist.

Cui bono verweist auf das Regime in Kiew als den Verantwortlichen für die Raketenangriffe auf Polen, dass das Ziel verfolgt, die NATO endlich bei dem Krieg gegen Russland offen auf seine Seite zu bringen. Polen ist noch nicht bereit zu einem Krieg gegen Russland und wird dazu erst in mehreren Monaten bereit sein, wenn es bedeutende Waffenlieferungen aus den Vereinigten Staaten erhält. Die USA wollen keine ungeplante Eskalation vom Stellvertreterkrieg hin zu einem direkten Krieg, der leicht zu einem russischen Nuklearschlag auf die USA selbst führen könnte. Es ist ausschließlich das Regime von Herrn Zelensky, das auf ein totales Chaos hoffen kann, um die Zerstörung des Kerns seiner Infrastruktur zu überleben, die jetzt endlich im Gang ist.

Natürlich müssen diese Überlegungen in Washington und in Brüssel von deren führendem Personal genau verstanden werden. Die kommenden Konsultationen über die Anwendung von Artikel 4 des NATO-Vertrages, bei denen es um die offizielle Feststellung geht, ob eine Bedrohung für die Unverletzlichkeit ihres Territoriums vorliegt, werden sich darum drehen, eine Formulierung für eine Schuldzuweisung für den Vorfall zu finden, bei der vermieden wird, unserem gegenwärtigen Sorgenkind, der Ukraine, die Schuld für einen Angriff auf ein NATO-Land zuzuweisen.

Attacco missilistico sulla Polonia: porterà all’invocazione dell’articolo 5 come spera il presidente Zelensky?

L’attacco missilistico di ieri sul lato polacco del confine con l’Ucraina, che ha provocato due morti, è stato denunciato dai russi come una “provocazione”. La logica di un simile incidente vorrebbe che la Polonia e i suoi alleati della NATO denunciassero la Russia come colpevole, come violatrice della sacralità del territorio della NATO, e minacciassero la Russia di invocare l’articolo 5 dell’Alleanza, una dichiarazione di guerra in tutto e per tutto. In effetti, questo è esattamente ciò che abbiamo sentito dal Presidente Zelensky nelle sue prime dichiarazioni sull’incidente, ed è stato appoggiato dai leader degli stati “sciacalli” bellicosi del Baltico.

In realtà, finora la reazione polacca sembra essere contenuta.  Il presidente Duda ha invitato i suoi connazionali a mantenere la calma mentre sono in corso le indagini. Le autorità polacche si sono limitate a dire che i frammenti dei missili recuperati sul posto dimostrano che erano “di fabbricazione russa”, il che di per sé significa ben poco, dato che entrambe le parti in conflitto utilizzano hardware militare “di fabbricazione russa”.  Nel frattempo, nella lontana Bali, Joe Biden ha risposto alle domande dei giornalisti, affermando che l’esame della traiettoria dei missili che hanno colpito i terreni agricoli sul lato polacco del confine con l’Ucraina rende “improbabile” che siano stati lanciati dalla Russia. Naturalmente, i giornalisti non hanno posto la domanda successiva: che cosa ci dice la traiettoria dei missili sulla loro provenienza? Chi li ha lanciati?

Un articolo del Financial Times di questa mattina sull’argomento aggiunge la speculazione che forse i missili facevano parte del sistema di difesa aerea ucraino e sono stati lanciati per abbattere i missili “cruise” russi lanciati sulle loro infrastrutture energetiche, ma “di cui avrebbero perso controllo”. Nello stesso articolo, gli autori non si preoccupano di chiedersi se i frammenti indichino veramente proiettili di “difesa aerea” o missili terra-terra, che presumibilmente sarebbero palesemente evidenti dai grandi frammenti visti nelle fotografie fatte sul luogo in questione.

Tutte queste tergiversazioni ed esitazioni da parte delle autorità statunitensi e polacche nel puntare il dito contro il colpevole dell’attacco in Polonia sono in diretta contraddizione con lo schema di lunga data del comportamento degli Stati Uniti e dell’Occidente in quelli che sappiamo essere incidenti di “false flag” (letteralmente: a bandiera falsa, ovvero operazioni commesse da servizi segreti con l’intento di mascherare l’effettiva fonte di responsabilità e incolparne una delle parti in causa) diretti da Washington o Londra. In casi del genere, accuse alla Russia, ad esempio per l’abbattimento del volo MH17 o al regime di Bashar Assad in Siria per presunti attacchi chimici contro la sua stessa popolazione civile, sono puntualmente arrivate poco dopo gli incidenti stessi.

Quindi chiedo ancora una volta: cosa è successo ieri in Polonia e di chi è la colpa?  Per trovare una risposta plausibile, suggerisco di applicare l’ormai collaudato principio guida romano dell’indagine e di chiedersi beneficia di quello che è successo. Si tratta di un approccio semplice e ragionevole che purtroppo è passato di moda nei nostri giorni di guerre d’informazione. 

Il “cui bono” indica il regime di Kiev come responsabile degli attacchi missilistici contro la Polonia, il cui scopo e’ quello di portare finalmente la NATO in guerra aperta contro la Russia.  La Polonia non è ancora pronta per questa guerra ma lo sarà tra qualche mese, quando riceverà importanti forniture di armi dagli Stati Uniti. Gli Stati Uniti non vogliono un’escalation non pianificata di quella che per ora rimane una guerra per procura ma che potrebbe diventare in una guerra vera e propria tra le principali parti in causa, e che potrebbe facilmente portare a un attacco nucleare russo sul suolo americano. È solo il regime di Zelensky che può avere interesse al caos totale per sopravvivere alla distruzione delle maggiori infrastrutture del suo paese ora in atto.

Naturalmente, a Washington e a Bruxelles queste considerazioni sono ben comprese dai principali attori politici e militari. Le prossime consultazioni sull’attivazione dell’articolo 4 del trattato dell’Alleanza, che riconosce ufficialmente una minaccia alla loro integrità territoriale, ruotano attorno alla formulazione di una determinazione della responsabilità dell’incidente che eviti di incolpare l’attuale beniamino della nostra sollecitudine, l’Ucraina, per aver attaccato un paese della NATO.

Frappe de missiles sur la Pologne : cela conduira-t-il à l’invocation de l’article 5 comme l’espère le président Zelensky ?

L’incident d’hier, des frappes de missiles du côté polonais de la frontière avec l’Ukraine qui ont fait deux morts, a été dénoncé par les Russes comme une « provocation ». La logique d’un tel incident voudrait que la Pologne et ses alliés de l’OTAN dénoncent la Russie comme coupable, comme violatrice du caractère sacré du territoire de l’OTAN, et menacent la Russie d’invoquer l’article cinq de l’Alliance, une déclaration de guerre pure et simple. En effet, c’est précisément ce que nous avons entendu de la part du président Zelensky dans ses premières déclarations sur l’incident, et il a été secondé par les dirigeants des États baltes, qui sont des chacals belliqueux.

En fait, jusqu’à présent, la réaction des Polonais semble être mesurée.  Leur président, M. Duda, a appelé ses compatriotes à rester calmes pendant qu’une enquête est en cours. Les autorités polonaises se contentent de dire que les fragments de missiles récupérés sur le site montrent qu’ils ont été « fabriqués en Russie », ce qui en soi ne signifie pas grand-chose puisque les deux parties au conflit utilisent du matériel militaire « fabriqué en Russie ».  Pendant ce temps, dans le lointain Bali, Joe Biden a répondu aux questions des journalistes en déclarant que l’examen de la trajectoire des missiles qui ont frappé des terres agricoles du côté polonais de la frontière avec l’Ukraine rendait « improbable » qu’ils aient été lancés depuis la Russie. Bien entendu, les journalistes n’ont pas posé la question complémentaire nécessaire : que nous apprend cette trajectoire connue sur l’origine réelle de ces missiles ? Et qui est donc susceptible de les avoir tirés ?

L’article du Financial Times de ce matin sur le sujet ajoute des hypothèses selon lesquelles les missiles faisaient peut-être partie du système de défense aérienne ukrainien et ont été tirés pour abattre des missiles de croisière russes qui attaquaient leur infrastructure énergétique, mais se sont « égarés ». Dans ce même article, le Financial Times ne prend pas la peine de demander si les fragments sont vraiment des projectiles de « défense aérienne » ou des missiles sol-sol, ce qui serait manifestement évident au vu des gros fragments observés sur les photographies du site.

Toutes ces tergiversations et ces hésitations de la part des autorités américaines et polonaises à désigner le coupable de l’attaque en Pologne sont en contradiction directe avec le modèle habituel de comportement des États-Unis et de l’Occident dans ce que nous savons être des incidents sous faux drapeau dirigés depuis Washington ou Londres. Dans de tels cas, des accusations contre la Russie concernant l’abattage du vol MH17, ou contre le régime de Bachar Assad en Syrie concernant des attaques chimiques présumées contre sa propre population civile, ont suivi dans les minutes qui ont suivi les incidents en question.

Je pose donc à nouveau la question : que s’est-il passé hier en Pologne et qui est à blâmer ?  Pour trouver une réponse plausible, je suggère d’appliquer le principe romain éprouvé en matière d’enquête et de se demander cui bono, c’est-à-dire quels intérêts sont servis par ce qu’il s’est passé ? Il s’agit d’une approche simple et raisonnable qui, malheureusement, est passée de mode à notre époque de guerre de l’information.

Cui bono désigne le régime de Kiev comme responsable des attaques de missiles sur la Pologne, dans le but d’amener enfin l’OTAN à s’engager ouvertement à leurs côtés dans la lutte contre la Russie.  La Pologne n’est pas encore prête pour la guerre contre la Russie, et ne le sera que dans plusieurs mois, lorsqu’elle recevra d’importantes livraisons d’armes des États-Unis. Les États-Unis ne veulent pas d’une escalade non planifiée d’une guerre par procuration à une guerre des chefs qui pourrait facilement conduire à une attaque nucléaire russe sur le territoire national. Seul le régime de M. Zelensky peut espérer un chaos total afin de survivre à la destruction de l’infrastructure centrale de son pays, qui est désormais bien engagée, enfin.

Bien entendu, à Washington comme à Bruxelles, ces considérations doivent être bien comprises par le personnel responsable. Les consultations à venir sur l’activation de l’article 4 du traité de l’Alliance reconnaissant officiellement une menace pour leur intégrité territoriale, portent sur la formulation de la responsabilité de l’incident qui évite de blâmer le chouchou actuel de notre sollicitude, l’Ukraine, pour avoir attaqué un pays de l’OTAN.

Missile strike on Poland:  will this lead to invocation of Article 5 as President Zelensky hopes?

Yesterday’s incident of missile strikes on the Polish side of the border with Ukraine which killed two has been denounced by the Russians as a ‘provocation.’ The logic of such an incident would be for Poland and its NATO allies to denounce Russia as the culprit, as the violator of the sanctity of NATO territory, and to threaten Russia with the invocation of Article Five of the Alliance, a declaration of war in all but name. Indeed, that is precisely what we heard from President Zelensky in his first statements about the incident, and he was seconded by leaders of the war-mongering jackal states in the Baltics.

In fact, so far the Polish reaction appears to be restrained.  Their president, Duda, has called upon his compatriots to remain calm while an investigation is underway. Polish authorities would say only that fragments of the missiles recovered at the site show that they were “Russian made,” which by itself means very little since both sides to the conflict use “Russian made” military hardware.  Meanwhile, in far off Bali, Joe Biden responded to journalists’ queries, saying that examination of the trajectory of the missiles which struck farmland on the Polish side of the border with Ukraine made it ‘unlikely’ that they were launched from Russia. Of course, journalists did not ask the necessary follow-up question: so what does this known trajectory tell us about where in fact these missiles were fired from? And who is likely then to have fired them?

This morning’s Financial Times article on the subject adds speculation that possibly the missiles were part of the Ukrainian air defense system and were fired to bring down Russian cruise missiles attacking their energy infrastructure but “went astray.” In this same reporting, they do not bother to ask whether the fragments truly indicate ‘air defense’ projectiles or ground to ground missiles, which presumably would be manifestly evident from the large fragments seen in photographs from the site.

All of this prevarication and hesitancy on the part of the U.S. and Polish authorities in pointing fingers at the culprit for the attack in Poland is in direct contradiction with the longstanding pattern of U.S. and Western behavior in what we know were false flag incidents directed from Washington or London. In such cases, accusations against the Russia over the downing of Flight MH17, or against the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria over alleged chemical attacks on his own civilian population followed within minutes of the given incidents.

So I ask again, what happened yesterday in Poland and who is to blame?  To find a plausible answer, I suggest applying the time proven Roman guiding principle of investigation and ask cui bono, whose interests are served by what has happened? This is a simple, reasonable approach which regrettably has gone out of style in our days of Information Wars. 

Cui bono points to the Kiev regime as responsible for the missile attacks on Poland, for the sake of finally bringing NATO openly into the fight on their side against Russia.  Poland is not yet ready for war against Russia, and will be ready only many months from now when it receives major arms deliveries from the United States. The USA does not want an unplanned escalation from proxy war to war of the principals that could easily lead to a Russian nuclear attack on the homeland. It is only Mr. Zelensky’s regime that can hope for total chaos in order to survive the destruction of his country’s core infrastructure that is now well on the way, at last.

Of course, in Washington, in Brussels these considerations must be well understood by key personnel. The coming consultations over activating Article 4 of the Alliance treaty, officially recognizing a threat to their territorial integrity, revolve around formulating a determination of responsibility for the incident that avoids blaming the present darling of our solicitude, Ukraine, for attacking a NATO country.

Postscript: 16 November afternoon. The latest statements from Poland and the U.S. in the past hour or so are saying the missiles which landed in Poland were Ukrainian air defense missiles, not downed Russian cruise missiles.  Since the US has recorded the trajectory of the missiles by one of its spy planes on location near the border, they know from where the missiles were launched and whether air defense units were there. They also have the missile fragments from the crash site and can identify exactly what type they were if they so wish.  For their part, the Poles are indicating that they will not activate Article 4 provisions of the Alliance after all. We may assume that knowing what they do, they would prefer to remove this whole incident from public discussion as quickly as possible.   The Russians say their attack on infrastructure came nowhere near the Ukrainian border with Poland, and that is completely believable: they want to avoid precisely what happened yesterday. So what is the chief lesson of this event: that the Americans understand it was a provocation by the Zelensky regime and they were quick to snuff it out because they absolutely want to avoid any possibility of the conflict going out of their control and escalating to nuclear war.

Ennesime cattive notizie: il nuovo centro di coordinamento statunitense a Stoccarda per le operazioni in Ucraina – una pietra miliare sulla via della Terza Guerra Mondiale

Oggi ho ricevuto un’e-mail dal mio buon amico Francis A. Boyle, professore di diritto all’Università dell’Illinois, riguardante la creazione a Stoccarda di un nuovo centro di coordinamento americano per le operazioni di guerra in Ucraina, diretto da un generale a tre stelle. La notizia sembra essere stata messa in secondo piano la scorsa settimana a causa dell’attenzione prestata dai maggiori media occidentali al ritiro russo da Kherson e dell’ingresso delle forze ucraine in quella città.  Ma a giudicare dall’interpretazione di Boyle, ci sono tutte le ragioni per puntare i riflettori su questo evento e per cercare di stimolare una discussione più ampia possibile sui media alternativi, sia digitali che tradizionali.

La storia che segue è una classica notizia da copertina del Pentagono. Non c’è bisogno di un generale a tre stelle e di uno staff di 300 persone per tenere d’occhio le armi americane fornite all’Ucraina. L’ultima volta che ho avuto a che fare personalmente con un generale a 3 stelle è stato quando ho tenuto una conferenza a West Point sulla deterrenza nucleare, di fronte, tra gli altri, ad un generale a 3 stelle responsabile di operazioni di guerra al Pentagono. A questo posso aggiungere che i suoi studi di scienze politiche per master e dottorato ad Harvard vertevano principalmente sulle relazioni russo/sovietiche, e che nel periodo trascorso ad Harvard ha lavorato con molti dei miei stessi professori. In questo senso, Boyle è un conoscitore della Russia ben qualificato, anche se all’universita’ dell’Illinois si occupa principalmente di studi sulla difesa dei diritti umani. Quest’anno Francis è stato anche particolarmente degno di nota per i suoi sforzi nel promuovere, come hanno fatto anche diversi membri chiave del Congresso americano, gli articoli di impeachment contro il Presidente Biden, che ha redatto lui stesso. L’ accusa: condurre una guerra non dichiarata alla Russia in violazione della Costituzione. Finora l’iniziativa ha avuto poco seguito, ma quando il nuovo Congresso a maggioranza repubblicana si insedierà nel 2023 le prospettive di trovare supporto potrebbero migliorare notevolmente.

Nonostante le notizie preoccupanti o allarmanti di cui sopra, chiudo questo articolo con un barlume di speranza che il mondo non sia ancora completamente impazzito.  Dalla persona che gentilmente traduce i miei articoli in tedesco, ho appreso la notizia dell’inizio di quello che potrebbe essere un movimento nazionale nella Repubblica Federale all’insegna dello slogan “Ami Go Home”. Il movimento comincerà con una manifestazione a Lipsia, nella Germania dell’Est, il 26 novembre. Le proteste si ispirano al pensiero di Oskar Lafontaine, un politico tedesco che ha ricoperto posizioni di primo piano nella SPD (il Partito Social Democratico tedesco) e poi in Die Linke (La Sinistra): ovvero, l’idea che sia giunto il momento che le “forze di occupazione” americane lascino la Germania in modo che il paese possa finalmente e pienamente recuperare la propria sovranità. Chi non conosce bene la politica tedesca può identificare più facilmente Lafontaine come il marito dell’eloquente membro dell’opposizione del Bundestag Sahra Wagenknecht.

Mi sembra opportuno aggiungere che, secondo il consiglio del mio traduttore quando mi ha trasmesso le notizie sulla manifestazione ‘Ami Go Home’, i veri organizzatori non appartengono alla sinistra tedesca ma, al contrario, all’estrema destra. Questa interpretazione è stata riconfermata da un lettore ben informato che vive a Berlino. Se volete, chiamatelo un altro esempio di impersonificazione o di sindrome dell’impostore. Stiamo vivendo tempi davvero interessanti.

Noch mehr schlechte Nachrichten: das neu geschaffene U.S. coordination center in Stuttgart for Ukraine operations ist ein Wahrzeichen auf dem Weg zum Dritten Weltkrieg

Heute habe ich eine email meines guten Freundes Professor of Law an der University of Illinois Francis A. Boyle erhalten bezüglich der Schaffung des neuen U.S. coordination center for war operations in Ukraine in Stuttgart, geführt von einem drei-Sterne-General. Diese Nachricht scheint diese Woche von den westlichen Mainstream Medien durch die Berichterstattung über den Rückzug der Russen aus Cherson und den Einmarsch der ukrainischen Streitkräfte in diese Stadt beiseitegeschoben worden zu sein. Aber nach der Einschätzung von Boyle gibt es gewichtige Gründe dafür, diese Angelegenheit in den alternativen elektronischen und Printmedien so breit wie möglich und genau zu beleuchten.

Ich verbreite hier das folgende Zitat aus der email von Boyle mit seiner Erlaubnis:

Die nachstehende Meldung ist ein klarer Etikettenschwindel des Pentagon. Man braucht keinen 3-Sterne-General und kein Personal von 300 Leuten, um die Schalthebel der Waffen der USA in der Ukraine zu kontrollieren. Dies ist ein Kriegskommando für einen Krieg gegen Russland. Das letzte Mal, dass ich persönlich mit einem 3-Sterne-General zu tun hatte war, als ich in West Point in der dortigen hochrangigen Konferenz über „Nukleare Abschreckung“ unter anderem vor einem 3-Sterne-General referiert habe, der für Kriegseinsätze – und nicht für das Inventar – zuständig war. Und man braucht keinen Hauptquartier-Stab von 300 Leuten für eine Buchprüfung oder Inventur. Dies ist ein Stab für ein Hauptquartier. Die Proteste sind von den Gedanken von Oskar Lafontaine inspiriert, einem deutschen Politiker, der Führungspositionen in der SPD und später in Die Linke innegehabt hat: insbesondere die Auffassung, dass die Besatzungstruppen der Vereinigten Staaten Deutschland verlassen sollten, damit das Land seine Souveränität wieder erlangen kann. Diese für Deutschland neue Politik kann ohne weiteres Lafontaine als den Ehemann von Sahra Wagenknecht kennzeichnen, der beredten oppositionellen Bundestagsabgeordneten. Es geziemt sich für mich hinzuzufügen, dass nach dem Hinweis meines Übersetzers als er mir die Nachricht über die „Ami Go Home“ Demonstration übermittelt hat, dass die tatsächlichen Organisatoren nicht aus der deutschen Linken sondern im Gegenteil aus der harten Rechten stammen. Diese Interpretation wurde von einem gutinformierten Leser bestätigt, der in Berlin lebt. Man könnte das vielleicht als eine weiteres „impersonation“ oder imposter-Phänomen bezeichnen. Boyle, professeur de droit à l’université de l’Illinois, concernant la création à Stuttgart d’un nouveau centre de coordination américain pour les opérations de guerre en Ukraine, dirigé par un général trois étoiles. Cette nouvelle semble avoir été reléguée au second plan la semaine dernière en raison de la couverture médiatique occidentale du retrait russe de Kherson et de l’entrée des forces ukrainiennes dans cette ville.  Cependant, à en juger par l’interprétation de M. Boyle, il y a toutes les raisons de mettre l’accent sur cette question et de susciter la discussion la plus large possible dans les médias électroniques et imprimés de la presse alternative.

Je renvoie ceux qui ne connaissent pas Francis Boyle à sa brève biographie sur le site Web de l’Université de l’Illinois. More bad news:  the newly created U.S. coordination center in Stuttgart for Ukraine operations as a landmark on the way to WWIII

Earlier today I received an email from my good friend Professor of Law at the University of Illinois Francis A. Boyle regarding the creation in Stuttgart of a new U.S. coordination center for war operations in Ukraine headed by a 3-star general. The news item seems to have been sidelined this past week by Western mainstream coverage of the Russian withdrawal from Kherson and entry of Ukrainian forces into that city.  However, judging by Boyle’s interpretation, there is every reason to put a spotlight on this issue and to seek the broadest possible discussion in Alternative News electronic and print media.

I offer the following quote from Boyle’s email with his permission:

The story below is a pure cover story by the Pentagon. You do not need a 3 Star General and a Staff of 300 to keep tabs on U.S. Weapons in Ukraine. This is a War Command to wage war against Russia. The last time I dealt personally with a 3 Star General was  when I lectured at West Point on “Nuclear Deterrence” in their Senior Conference on that subject in front of, among others, the 3 Star General in Charge of War Operations at the Pentagon. The Pentagon puts a 3 Stars  General in Charge of War Operations—not Inventory. And you do not need a Headquarters Staff of 300 to do an Audit. It’s a War Headquarters Staff. We are going to war against Russia unless the American People can figure out some way to stop it!

https://law.illinois.edu/faculty-research/faculty-profiles/francis-boyle/   To that I can add, that his ‘political science’ studies for the Masters and Ph.D. degrees at Harvard were primarily in Russian/Soviet affairs, and that in his time at Harvard he worked under many of the same professors as did I.  In this sense, Boyle is a well qualified Russia expert, even if his primary listing at Illinois is as defender of human rights.  He is also particularly noteworthy this year for his efforts to promote among several key Congressmen the articles of impeachment against President Biden that he has drafted; the charges – waging undeclared war on Russia in violation of the Constitution. So far that has gained little traction, but when the new Congress with Republican majority takes its seats in 2023 the prospects of finding sponsors may be significantly improved.

Notwithstanding the worrisome or alarming news above, I close this essay with a glimmer of hope that the world has not yet gone completely mad.  From my volunteer translator in Germany, I have learned about the start of what should be a nationwide “Ami Go Home” movement in the Federal Republic. It will begin with mass demonstrations in the East German city of Leipzig on 26 November. The protests are inspired by the thinking of Oskar Lafonteine, a German politician who held leading positions in the SPD and later in Die Linke: namely the notion that it is high time for the United States occupation forces to leave Germany so that the country may recover its sovereignty. Those new to German politics may more easily identify Lafonteine as the husband of the eloquent Opposition member of the Bundestag Sahra Wagenknecht. It behooves me to add that per the advice of my translator when he forwarded to me news about the ‘Ami Go Home’ demonstration that the actual organizers are not on the German Left but, on the contrary, on the Hard Right. This interpretation has been reconfirmed by a well informed reader living in Berlin. Call this yet another ‘impersonation’ or imposter phenomenon if you will. We are living through interesting times.

Zwar habe ich diese Bemerkungen auf das Brainwashing durch unsere Mainstream-Medien zurückgeführt. Sie könnten aber auch auf einfache Eigennützigkeit zurückgeführt werden: der Krieg der Russen gegen die Ukraine beraubt meine Adeligen ihrer Annehmlichkeiten und daher muss Herr Putin auf der ganzen Linie an allem schuld sein.

In den letzten Tagen habe ich an einem email-Dialog mit einigen Freunden und Kollegen aus dem Lager der alternativen Narrative über die Fragen zum russisch-ukrainischen Krieg teilgenommen. Die Frage, die ich gestellt hatte, bezog sich auf den Wert oder die Sinnlosigkeit einer öffentlichen Debatte mit Menschen, die gewöhnlich die Washington-Narrative teilen.

Im Verlauf der letzten neun Monate des intensiven Propaganda-Sperrfeuers des offiziellen Washington und seiner Lakaien in den wichtigen Medien in ganz Europa, wenn nicht in der ganzen Welt über den russisch-ukrainischen Krieg, hat sich der rechte Glaube an das Raster von „gut gegen böse“ in diesem Konflikt bei ansonsten aufgeklärten und hochgebildeten Menschen so verhärtet, dass es sich als undurchdringlich von neuen Fakten oder Gesichtspunkten erwiesen hat. Inzwischen hat das ganze Niveau des Diskurses einen Tiefpunkt erreicht. Beschimpfungen und heftige Angriffe ad hominem sind jetzt die Regel.

Ein Beispiel ist gestern Abend belgischer Zeit auf meinem Schreibtisch gelandet, als ich den Kommentar-Bereich meiner Website geöffnet und den letzten Eintrag gefunden habe.

Meinung Enttäuschung über den Fund von Lieven’s stinkendem Blumenstrauß auf meiner Website wurde noch verstärkt durch Eindrücke früher am Abend beim Abendessen bei meinem Gesellschaftsclub, den ich früher in meinen Berichten zu deren Festessen bei Gelegenheit des russischen Neujahrsfests erwähnt habe, zurückreichend in die Zeiten vor Covid. Die Mitglieder dieses seit 175 Jahren bestehenden Clubs, der die Bezeichnung „königlich“ trägt und ein Hort der francophonen Brüsseler Aristokratie und der intellektuellen Elite ist, haben mich beeindruckt als der russischen Kultur besonders freundlich gesinnt und offen für nonkonformistische Ansichten von Herrn Putins Russland. Immerhin wurde ich vor drei Jahren von dem Vorsitzenden von dessen Geopolitischer Gruppe, der gleichzeitig ein hochrangiger Mitarbeiter der Europäischen Kommission ist, eingeladen, dort über Putin & Co. zu sprechen.

Die Geopolitische Gruppe innerhalb unseres Cercle, die im Prinzip jetzt nötiger wäre als je, ist aufgelöst worden. Meine Tischgenossen an dem langen Esstisch, Mitglieder der Cinema Group, die ich auch besuche, erinnerten sich an meine damalige Rede und fragten, was ich von der heutigen Situation halte. Und dann ging es los, wie man so sagt.

Ihre Bemerkungen, wie furchtbar es sei, dass Grenzen mittels militärischer Gewalt verändert werden, dass ein Land eine anderes überfällt und ein weiteres zerstört etc., waren äußerst schockierend für mich. Mein Einwand bezüglich der von den Vereinigten Staaten und der NATO durchgeführten illegalen Invasionen und begangenen Gewalttaten im Irak, in Libyen, in Syrien, in Afghanistan in den letzten paar Jahrzehnten wurde als „Antwort mit einer Gegenfrage“ (und was ist mit…) „mit Links“ zurückgewiesen, weil er nichts mit den Verbrechen gegenüber der Ukraine zu tun habe. Meine Bemerkung, dass meine Gesprächspartner nicht das Geringste über die Ukraine wissen, nichts über seine Geographie, nichts über seine Geschichte, nichts über ihre ethnische Zusammensetzung, als das, was sie in ihrer Libre belgique oder Le Soir lesen, fiel auf taube Ohren. Sie wissen alles, was sie wissen möchten, und darin besteht die Tragödie.

Die einzige Rettung war, und ich sage das mit aller Dankbarkeit, dass es an dem Tisch keine Beleidigungen gab, kein Anzeichen von Respektlosigkeit. In dieser Hinsicht bleibt mein Club was er immer war – eine Oase der Toleranz in einer Zeit von bösartiger Zwietracht. Aber meine Tischgenossen können und werden nicht durch intellektuelle Überzeugungsarbeit umgestimmt werden. Wie uns die russische Volksweisheit sagt: ein Buckliger kann erst im Grab geradegebogen werden.

All dies bringt mich zu sehr persönlichen Fragen: Warum schreiben? Warum an Sendungen im iranischen, algerischen, belarussischen, türkischen oder russischen Fernsehen teilnehmen, in denen Nachrichten analysiert werden und die unter den wenigen sind, die in ihre Sendungen Wortführer der alternativen Narrative einladen? Ich habe mich mit dieser Frage gründlich beschäftigt und bin mit dieser Antwort zufrieden: den vielen intellektuellen, wissbegierigen und offenherzigen Menschen in Europa, in den Vereinigten Staaten und auf der ganzen Welt Trost spenden, die sich ansonsten von den eingebildeten Trägern der Mainstream-Narrative umgeben sehen. It has come to my notice that someone posted a comment in my name making an insulting attack on something that you had written. I want to assure you that I did NOT write this. If you know my views and record (and indeed personal style) you will realise how very unlikely it is that I would have done so.

It has come to my notice that someone posted a derogatory comment in my name on a piece by Gilbert Doctorow. I did NOT write this, and in fact have never commented online about Gilbert Doctorow’s work. This was the action of an imposter.

I have now modified my essay of today to remove discussion of Dr Lieven other than to quote the insulting comment which arrived on my website in his name. The overriding issue remains unchanged: we are living in a world where such scandalous messages being sent can appear almost normal. We are living in a world where rational discourse becomes hard, even impossible to practice.

The second half of this essay I leave intact because it has lost none of its relevance. My tablemates’ superficial thoughts about the Russia-Ukraine war came ‘from the horses’ mouth.’ No imposters there. While I attributed these remarks to brainwashing from our mainstream media, they may also be attributed to simple selfishness: the Russian war on Ukraine deprives my peers of their creature comforts and so Mr Putin is to blame up and down the line.

In recent days, I have been in email dialogue with several friends and associates in the Alternative Narratives camp on the issues of the Russia-Ukraine War. The question I posed relates to the value or futility of public debate with standard bearers of the Washington Narrative.

During the course of the last nine months of intensive propaganda barrage from official Washington and its minions in the major media across Europe if not the world over the Russia-Ukraine War, righteous belief in the ‘good versus evil’ framing of the conflict in otherwise enlightened and well educated people has hardened so as to be nearly impenetrable to new facts or points of view. Meanwhile, the whole level of discourse has descended into the gutter. Name calling and vicious ad hominem attacks are now the rule. 

A case in point arrived on my desk late last night Belgian time when I opened the “Comments” section of my website and found the newest addition.

My disappointment at finding the foul-smelling bouquet on my website over Anatol Lieven’s name was heightened by impressions earlier in the evening over dinner at my social club, which I have previously described in my reports on their gala dinners on the occasion of Russian New Year’s going back to the pre-Covid days. The membership of this 175-year-old club, which bears the designation ‘royal’ and is a nest of Brussels’ Francophone aristocracy and intellectual elite, had impressed me as especially sympathetic to Russian culture and open to hearing nonconformist views of Mr. Putin’s Russia.  After all, three years ago I was invited to speak about Putin & Co. by the chairman of what was their Geopolitics Group, himself a ranking employee of the European Commission.

The Geopolitics Group within our Cercle, which, in principle, is now more needed than ever, has been disbanded.  But my tablemates at the long dinner table set for members of the Cinema Group which I also frequent remembered my speech back then and asked what I make of the current situation. And then we were off to the races, as they say.

It was utterly shocking for me to hear their remarks on how horrible it is that borders may be changed by military force, that one country can invade and destroy another, etc.  My mention of the illegal invasions and violence perpetrated by the United States and its NATO allies in Iraq, in Libya, in Syria, in Afghanistan over the past couple of decades was rejected out of hand as ‘whataboutism’ which has no relevance to the ongoing crimes against Ukraine.  My remark that my interlocutors know nothing whatever about Ukraine, not its geography, not its history, not its ethnic composition other than what they read in their Libre belgique or Le Soir fell on deaf ears. They know all that they want to know, and therein is the tragedy.

The only saving grace, and I call it out with all due gratitude, is that there was no name-calling at the table, no show of disrespect. In this regard my club remains what it always was – an oasis of tolerance in an age of vicious partisanship. But my tablemates cannot and will not be won over by intellectual persuasion.  As the Russian folk wisdom tells us, the hunchback straightens out only in the grave.

All of this brings me to very personal questions:  Why write? Why participate in news analysis shows on Iranian, Indian, Algerian, Belarus, Turkish or Russian television, which are among the few to invite on air spokesmen for the Alternative Narratives?  It is an issue to which I have given due attention and am satisfied with this answer:  to give comfort to those many intellectually curious and still open-minded people in Europe, in the United States and around the globe who otherwise find themselves surrounded by the smug bearers of the mainstream narrative. Each day my website readers are from 50 or more countries. Positive feedback from these readers regularly assures me that the effort is worth making.
